SixtyFive

Our goal was to create the ultimate ocean-going cruising yacht. She can be sailed by a seasoned yachtsman and cruise world’s most beautiful cruising grounds - or crossing the oceans - with his (or hers) family or friends. Elan Sixty-Five is easier to sail and handle, more comfortable on deck and inside, and safer than comparable yachts. And: offering more pure sailing fun and speed than any rival.

FEATURES

  • Protected Forward Sailing Console

This unique feature, also borrowed and adapted from the IMOCA single-handed round-the-world racers, gives full protection in the forward part of the cockpit from the elements. This forward position offers steering capacity using the autopilot controls, sail adjustments through powered winches and full visibility of the sails and the sea. This area is easily either air-conditioned or warm air heated subject to the needs demanded by your cruising grounds.

  • True Shorthanded Yacht

Based on latest IMOCA Round-the-World features, equipment and experience and created by their winning designers and experts, our yacht is easily sailed by a single, or shorthanded crew, in all conditions. The mast, rigging, deck gear choice and organization enable effortless/safe handling and passage making, supported by power-assisted furling headsails and rewind or captive electric winches.

  • Accommodation and Convenience

The comfort of life on a yacht, be during bluewater sailing or at anchor, is largely depending on deck and accommodation design. Granting a single level interior, minimal vertical height distance from salon to cockpit (100 cm) with a wide and gentle companionway staircase (45 degrees), an easy and safe walkways and foredeck access, along with safe and easy access to the shore, to the dinghy or the sea make the yacht unique. A balanced three-cabin interior with a lavish owner suite provide the means for unforgettable longer cruising passages.

  • Intelligent Electrical Systems

Ample energy supply and its smart control and management are one of the most critical areas of providing convenience needed for a long-range bluewater voyage. Lithium storage-based system allows optimal generation and use of energy on board. Provided by a diesel, hydro generator, or photovoltaic cells, electrical energy is generated and consumed using a centralised digital management system. This allows for quiet nights without the generator running even at high energy demand like the air-conditioning, and a strong reduction of fossil fuel consumption, while keeping the needed energy dependent comfort features untouched.

  • Custom Autopilot

It is based on B&G hardware and round-the-world racing experience, where these systems steer the boat virtually full-time in all weather and sea conditions and provides the skipper with an optimal, reliable, and safe steering solution for ocean passages. The software is developed from Gomboc simulation studies conducted during the definition of naval architecture parameters. After the launch of the first boat, she is sailed in a variety of conditions, and data from multiple sensors is used to analyse steering responses. This feedback enables continuous refinement and optimisation of the autopilot software, achieving steering performance comparable to that of an experienced racing helmsman.

  • Forged Keel Fin

An extra-strong keel fin was developed by using forged high-tensile steel. Built from a single monolithic piece of HRO 774 steel, this technology, in contrast to a cast or welded fin, makes possible a lighter and structurally stronger part. In this way, a slender, low-drag and light keel fin is fabricated, while increasing the shock and impact resistance produced at any serious grounding - which no bluewater cruiser can avoid.
